How does it work?

Microdermabrasion is an in office procedure that takes about one hour. No numbing is necessary. A handheld machine is glided gently across the skin to exfoliate, and at the same time suction off the dead cells. There is little to no downtime after the treatment, being able to resume daily activities. You should expect to see noticeable results immediately after the procedure.

Who is a good candidate for microdermabrasion?

The ideal candidates for microdermabrasion are healthy adults or teenagers who have minor skin conditions or imperfections and have a realistic expectation about what it can and cannot do. It works effectively on weathered, sun damaged, ageing skin, and many other skin concerns. Typical factors found with some cosmetic procedures such as age and skin color aren’t a factor with microdermabrasion. This is one of few treatments that can be done on pregnant and nursing women.


Who is not a good candidate for microdermabrasion?

The following is a list of contraindications: Any autoimmune disease, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, scleredema, skin cancer, diabetes, bleeding disorders, the usage of blood thinners or higher dosages of aspirin, and accutane used within the last 6 months.


How long should I go between treatments?

Microdermabrasion can be a one time treatment but is most effective when used as an on-going facial treatment. In the beginning you can receive treatments every week until you start to see the results you desire. Reducing the frequency to every other week or once a month, this will be sufficient for maintaining that youthful glow.


Does microdermabrasion help acne/blackheads?

Microdermabrasion helps to reduce acne by clearing away dead skin cells and impurities that can block the pores. The ‘black’ or tops of the blackheads are removed by exfoliation while the suction part of the tool can remove the remaining hardened oils. This ultimately can reduce the size of the pore because they are no longer clogged with the matter that holds them open.
